The Friends of the
Bolton LIbrary
A little history...
The Friends of the Bolton Public Library was founded in 1993 when the library trustees and a small group of citizens recognized a need to stimulate public interest in the library and provide active support for library programs and enrichments. The first fund-raising event was a used book sale organized by a small crew of volunteers who collected thousands of used books, sorted them among the chickens in the Edmunds' barn on Vaughn Hill Road, and sold the books on the library lawn on a busy Saturday morning in October. The money raised was immediately used to fund various cultural and educational events, and to provide museum passes for library patrons. From those beginnings, the Friends gradually expanded their membership and formed a non-profit organization that continues to support the library and raise funds with regularly scheduled used book sales, annual appeals, and other community activities.
